Boxers pick up first win off Goodwin's header

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Junior Adina Goodwin's header in the 31st minute proved the winner as the Pacific women's soccer team earned its first victory of the season with a 1-0 decision over Lewis & Clark at Ledbetter Field at Hanson Stadium.

Goodwin's (Tualatin, Ore.) goal came in the 31st minute when junior Kira Negrete (Lakewood, Calif.) pushed beyond the Pioneers' defense and chipped a pass toward Goodwin, who directed her header low and inside the goalpost.

The Boxers (1-14-4, 1-11-3 NWC) held the Pioneers (3-14-1, 2-12-1 NWC) off the board as time expired on the first half, as senior goalkeeper Ariela Bali (Aiea, Hawaii) notched a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes.
