Jenee Brown scored a career-high 15 points to lead the Pacific University women's basketball team in a 66-49 loss to host UC-Santa Cruz on Sunday.
The Boxers (0-3) were led by the effort by Brown and
Liana Tanaka, who added 11 in the loss.
The Banana Slugs (1-1) were able to land a pair of players in double figures including Katie Young, who scored a game-high 28 on the strength of six 3-pointers and a double double by Kaitlin Stephenson, who scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

UC Santa Cruz started the game on a 10-3 run, leading from start to finish. Twice in the second quarter and again in the early moments of the third quarter, the Boxers cut the deficit to six, 33-27.
Facing a six-point deficit, 33-27, the host Banana Slugs scored the next six points to stretch the lead to double digits for the remainder of the contest.

The Boxers made 24 free throws in the loss – the most since they made 25 in a 67-55 win over Willamette on Jan. 25, 2013. Pacific outrebounded UC Santa Cruz by eight, 43-35 in the defeat.
Before going into the Thanksgiving break, the Boxers will have its home opener on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when they host Northwest Christian.
