Four members of the Pacific University women's basketball team scored in double figures in a 76-69 loss to host Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon.
The Boxers (0-8) were led by senior
Kaela Collins (Snohomish, Wash.) had a season-high 15 points and eight rebounds.
She was joined in double figures by
Courtney Carolan (Spokane Valley, Wash. | 14 points),
Megan Wesel (Winchester, Calif. | 11 points) and
Liana Tanaka (Kahului, Hawaii | 10 points).
The Sagehens (2-7) were led by the 31-point effort from Alexa Bayangos, who led four players from Pomona-Pitzer in double figures. She was joined by Anita Romero, who had a double double (16 points, 12 rebounds), Renae Tamura (14 points) and Keilani Ikehara (11 points).
Six unanswered points by the Boxers to start the second half put the visitors ahead 45-35 with 7:03 left in the third quarter. The Boxers stayed in front until the start of the fourth quarter.
The host Sagehens opened the final quarter, scoring eight of the first 10 points for its first lead since the 3:41 mark of the first quarter. Pomona-Pitzer remained in front for the rest of the contest. The Boxers rallied to cut the deficit to one on three occasions in the final 6:24.
Next, Pacific will face the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.
