The Pacific University women's basketball team dropped a 64-42 decision to host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Sunday at Roberts Pavilion in Claremont, California.
The Boxers (0-9) were led by an 11-point effort by Jenee' Brown (Kailua, Hawaii), who was in double figures for the sixth time. Brown hit three 3-pointers in the loss, it was her third multi 3-pointer game of the season.
The Athenas (7-2) had three players in double figures including Kailee Severt, who had a game-high 23 points. Kate Parrish and Maya Love added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
The teams went back and forth to start the game until a 10-0 run by CMS put the Athenas ahead for the remainder of the game. Six of the 10 points came from Severt to lead the Athenas in the win.
The Boxers rallied to cut the deficit to three, 21-18, when they scored seven of the first 11 points in the second quarter. Five of the seven came from junior
Megan Wesel (Winchester, Calif.), who came off the bench to spark Pacific.
Pacific will wrap up its three-game trip to California on Tuesday, Dec. 19 as they will face the Tigers of Occidental in a noon matchup.
