Morgan Bookout ripped two home runs as the Pacific softball team wrapped up its trip to Texas with a pair of road losses to No. 5 East Texas Baptist at Taylor Field.

The Boxers dropped the opener to the Tigers 11-1 in five innings and battled in game two before falling 11-8.

GAME ONE: No. 5 East Texas Baptist 11, Pacific 1 (5 inn.)
Amanda Machado (Folsom, Calif.) continued a hot streak against the Tigers in the opening game of the doubleheader with a 2-2 effort and a RBI.

The Tigers scored in the first three innings of play, snagging one run in the first and second and nine in the third.

Pacific got on the board in the top of the fourth, when
Becca Bernard (Roseville, Calif.) opened the frame with a single before advancing to second on a ground out. Bernard scored from second when Machado singled up the middle to halt the shutout.

Bernard,
Emily Tesdale (Woodland, Wash.) and
Caitlyn Ramiscal (Kapolei, Hawaii) all joined Machado with hits in game one. In the circle,
Cassie Apple (Modesto, Calif.) picked up a pair of strikeouts in 1.2 innings of relief.

GAME TWO: No. 5 East Texas Baptist 11, Pacific 8
The second game of the day saw Bookout (Oregon City, Ore.) light–up the box score as she finished 2-2 with two home runs and three runs batted in.

Following 1.5 innings of scoreless softball, the Tigers plated six runs in the bottom of the second. Pacific looked to answer in the top half of the third, when the bases quickly loaded after a Ramiscal walk to lead off the inning.

Kaitlynn Donaca (Oregon City, Ore.) notched an infield single and Bernard drew a walk to load the bases for
Cindy Chan (Torrance, Calif.). Chan singled to left to score Ramiscal and put the Boxers on the scoreboard. A passed ball plated Donaca before Machado drove-in the third run of the inning on a RBI single.

Trailing 6-3 entering the fourth, Pacific cut the deficit to 6-4 in the frame when Ramsical doubled and scored on an error during Donaca's next plate appearance.

East Texas Baptist extended the lead to 7-4 in the bottom of the fourth, but again Pacific was ready to answer back in the fifth. With two outs and
Katelyn Macaitis-Smith (Salem, Ore.) on base, Bookout homered to left center and pulled Pacific within one of the ranked Tigers.

Another Tigers run in the fifth, was answered by Pacific scoring in the sixth when Donaca singled and stole second. A groundout moved Donaca to third, where she would score on a double to left center by Chan.

ETBU picked up some insurance runs in the sixth as the Tigers plated three runs in the bottom of the frame.

The Boxers' final run of the day came in the top of the seventh when Bookout sent a 2-2 pitch over the center field wall for a solo home run.

Chan finished the game with two hits and two RBI, while Machado notched a hit and a RBI. Donaca was 2-3 in game two, while Ramiscal and Macaitis-Smith both recorded one hit. Bookout's day finished with a 2-2, two runs and three RBI statline.
