FOREST GROVE — A trio of Boxers scored 10 or more points Pacific picked up a 62-47 home victory over the visiting Whitworth Pirates inside of the Stoller Center on Saturday.

The first quarter of action went Whitworth's way as the Pirates held a lead over the opening three minutes of play, before
Sarah Curl (Portland, Ore.) tied the game at 5-5 on a 3-pointer and Charli Elliot (Seattle, Wash.) followed up Curl's 3-pointer with a two-point make and gave Pacific a two-point advantage.

The Pirates recovered from the two-point deficit by scoring the final 10 points of the first quarter and taking a 15-7 lead over the Boxers.

The Whitworth lead continued into the second quarter until the 7:17 mark when a Curl 3-pointer again tied the game and was followed by Elliott giving the Boxers the lead at 20-18.

Whitworth would tie the game at 22-22 with less than five minutes to play in the opening half. Pacific would not let the tie remain long as
Lauren Lykins (Hillsboro, Ore.) scored on a layup and was followed by a layup from
Nikki Gilbert (East Wenatchee, Wash.) to put the Boxers ahead of the Pirates by four.

After a Whitworth basket, Lykins tallied the next four points before
Karli McHone (Glenns Ferry, Idaho) scored with 10 seconds left to send Pacific to the locker room with a 32-24 lead.

Whitworth would score the first four points of the second half, but Pacific would never lead by less than four over the final five minutes of the third quarter. The third quarter saw Elliott lead the Boxers with four points over the 10-minute quarter.

The fourth quarter saw Pacific outscore Whitworth 16-7 and stretching its lead to 12 points within the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. The first double-digit lead of the afternoon came at 6:52 on a 3-pointer by Curl to give Pacific an 11-point lead. After a Whitworth jumper, McHone hit a 3-pointer to push the lead out to 12 at the 5:22 mark.

A quick three-point swing for Whitworth cut the lead to nine, but Pacific scored the next six points before time expired and earned a 62-47 lead at home.

Curl led Pacific with 20 points and nine rebounds, while also picking up four steals. McHone scored 12 points on the day and Elliott reached double figures for the first time this season with a 10-point performance. Elliott and
Merrily Jones (Milwaukie, Ore.) both picked up six rebounds, while Gilbert dished out five assists.

The Boxers next play host to Linfield on Tuesday, with a scheduled tip of 6 p.m.
