Sarah Curl scored 26 pionts, while
Karli McHone dropped 18 and
Nikki Gilbert finished with 17 as Pacific topped Linfield 83-58 inside of the Stoller Center on Tuesday evening.
The Boxers took their second lead of the game at the 5:26 mark of the first quarter as
Charli Elliott (Seattle, Wash.) scored on a layup and then a jumper on the next posession to give the Boxers a 9-6 lead. The Boxers took the three-point advantage and never looked back, stretching the lead to as many as seven points before a late Linfield jumper pulled the Wildcats back within five as time expired on the first period.
Period two was more of the same as the Boxers outscored the Wildcats 15-9 over 10 minutes. After Linfield scored the opening basket of the quarter, Pacific went on a 9-4 run, which featured a 3-point make by McHone (Glenns Ferry, Idaho) to push out to a 31-23 lead with 4:04 left in the first half.
A
Delaney Emerson (Portland, Ore.) layup at 3:09 in the second quarter sparked a 9-0 run by the Boxers, including four-straight points from McHone to close out the half with Pacific up 37-26 on the visiting Wildcats.
The third quarter started with a Linfield make, but was followed up by Curl (Portland, Ore.) scoring six of the next 10 Pacific points, pushing the Boxers lead to 16 points. Free throws from
Nikki Gilbert (East Wenatchee, Wash.) and a 3-pointer from McHone put Pacific up by 21 with 6:02 left in the third quarter.
Jenee Brown (Kailua, Hawaii) and Linfield's Quincey Gibson exchanged 3-pointers to close out the third quarter with the Boxers up 59-46.
The fourth quarter opened a 5-4 Boxer advanage over the first six minutes, but Curl tallied four-straight to put Pacific up 18 with 4:36 left in regulation. Pacific and Linfield exchanged makes, until a 2:35 3-pointer by Curl gave Pacific a 17-point lead.
Curl followed up her 3-pointer with a jumper, before McHone and Brown hit 3-pointers to wrap-up the Boxers' 83-58 victory over the Wildcats.
Curl led all scorers with 26 points, while McHone's 18 points and Gilbert's 17 points made them the second and third top scorers on the floor for the night.
Elliott snagged 12 rebounds, while Curl and
Merrily Jones (Milwaukie, Ore.) both grabbed six boards. Gilbert dished out seven assists, while McHone finished the night with four.
As a team, Pacific was a perfect 16-16 from the free throw line and shot 68.8-percent from the 3-point line at 11-16.
The Boxers head to Lewis & Clark on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip-off scheduled against the Pioneers.
