Bookout bomb helps Boxers split with No. 8 Wildcats

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Morgan Bookout hit her third home run of the season as Pacific earned a Sunday split with No. 8 Linfield at Del Smith Stadium.

Pacific topped Linfield 3-1 in Sunday's opener, before falling 4-1 in the second half of the twin bill.

The Boxers will get a week off from competition before returning to Sherman/Larkins Stadium on March 25 for a 12 p.m. scheduled first pitch against the Whitworth Pirates.

GAME ONE: Pacific 3, No. 8 Linfield 1
Bookout (Oregon City, Ore.) hit a solo homer and picked up a second RBI as the Boxers toppled the Wildcats in game one of Sunday's doubleheader.

Linfield scored in the opening frame when Jacinda Swiger scored on a Pacific error.

The Boxers got on the scoreboard in the top of the third when with one out in the inning, Bookout homered to tie the game at 1-1.

Two additional runs came in the fourth inning for Pacific when Katelyn Macaitis-Smith (Salem, Ore.) reached on an error and advanced to third on a groundout. Macaitis-Smith was able to score when Haley Kodama (Pearl City, Hawaii) singled to left field.

After a Kaitlynn Donaca (Oregon City, Ore.) single and Madi Hedlund (Kirkland, Wash.) walk loaded the bases for Bookout, the sophomore drew a walk for the third and final run of the game for the Boxers.

Amanda Machado (Folsom, Calif.) picked up a pair of hits in game one, while Bookout finished with two RBI in the win.

Ashley Martin (Sutherlin, Ore.) threw seven innings for Pacific in the circle to pick up the win, while striking out three and walking no Wildcat batters on the day.

GAME TWO: No. 8 Linfield 4, Pacific 1
Hedlund recorded two hits in game two as the Boxers fell 4-1 to the host Wildcats.

Pacific struck first in the top of the second when Kodama singled to center with one out. A sacrifice bunt by Trisha Snydar (Lynden, Wash.) moved Kodama to third, where she scored on a double to left center by Hedlund.

Linfield rode two home runs in the bottom of the third to a 3-1 lead, before adding a fourth run in the sixth to secure a 4-1 win.

Hedlund's two hits led the Boxers in game two, while five other Boxers recorded one hit each.
