Bruins best Boxers despite pair of Pacific hat tricks

FOREST GROVE — Pacific captains Paisley Hiefield and Meg Chapman both netted hat tricks as the Boxers fell in Northwest Conference action to the visiting George Fox Bruins at Hanson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Boxers got on the board first when Lucy Almao (Orange County, Calif.) caused a turnover and recovered a ground ball to spring the Pacific attack. After the turnover, Pacific tallied the opening goal as Chapman (Woodinville, Wash.) scored her third goal of the season with 28:15 left in the first period.

George Fox answered a minute later, before taking a 2-1 lead at the 26:55 mark. Chapman helped the Boxers recover after drawing a free position opportunity, which she converted to tie the game at 2-2 with 25:19 on the clock.

Dakota Dantzer (Murrieta, Calif.) snagged the ensuing draw, which helped the Boxers to the offensive third and Hiefield's (Portland, Ore.) first goal of the afternoon.

Pacific's lead was short lived as Miranda Edwords tied the game at 3-3 just inside the 19-minute mark. Edwords' goal was the first of six-straight for the Bruins, before Hiefield assisted on Chapman's third goal at the 5:34 mark.

Hiefield's second goal of the day came with just 41 seconds remaining in the first half and pulled the Boxers within four of the guests entering halftime.

Edwords scored the first goal of the second half to give the Bruins a 10-5 advantage. A successful clearance for the Boxers led to Jordyn Godfrey (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) assisting on Hiefield's third goal of the game with 27:26 left in regulation.

George Fox rattled off six-straight goals before Roya Tahmassebi (Mountain View, Calif.) scored Pacific's final goal of the game at the 10:01-mark on a man-advantage.

The Bruins closed out the game with two additional goals, walking away with an 18-7 victory.

Godfrey finished the day with two assists, while Hiefield and Chapman both recorded a trio of goals.

April Lanz led the Boxers in possession with four ground balls and six draw controls, while also finishing tied with Dantzer with a team-high three caused turnovers.

Pacific steps out of conference play for the next three games, starting with a 6 p.m. first draw on Tuesday as the Carthage Lady Reds visit Hanson Stadium.
