FOREST GROVE — A pair of Boxers recorded double-hat tricks highlighted opening night for the Pacific women's lacrosse team, while
April Lanz tallied eight points on five goals and three assists in the Boxers' 19-8 victory over the Eastern Eagles at Hanson Stadium.
The scoring got underway just over a minute into the game as Lanz (Oregon City, Ore.) tallied her first goal of the year at the 28:59 mark in the opening half. Lanz doubled her total at 26:45, when she scored off an assist from
Brittney Bardin (Albany, Ore.).
The Boxers' run continued when
Roya Tahmassebi (Mountain View, Calif.) assisted on a goal by
Jasmyne Adame with 23:57 on the clock to give Pacific a 3-0 lead early.
Jordyn Godfrey (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the year with 20:02 left in the first half before assisting on
Paisley Hiefield's (Portland, Ore.) opening goal less than a minute later.
Godfrey's second goal came at 18:11, while Lanz scored off a free position shot at 16:34 to give Pacific a 7-0 lead entering the final 15 minutes of the first period.
Eastern rattled off three goals before Hiefield scored her second goal off a Lanz assist to extend the Pacific lead to 8-3.
The Eagles answered with goals at 10:09 and 8:33, but with 1:18 remaining in the first half, Lanz assisted on Hiefield's third goal of the night. Hiefield's third tally proved to be the game winner as the Boxers headed to halftime with a 9-5 lead.
Godfrey would go on to score four goals in the second half, while Hiefield added three to her total. Tahmassebi scored her first collegiate goal with 15:30 on the clock, before Lanz rounded out the scoring with goals at 9:50 and 4:37.
Godfrey and Hiefield both finished with six goals, while Lanz scored five goals and delivered eight assists. Bardin finished the night with a pair of assists for the Boxers.
Dakota Dantzer (Murrieta, Calif.) and Lanz led the Boxers with three ground balls each, while Lanz snagged nine draw controls and
Kenedie Hemrich (Murrieta, Calif.) controlled eight draws. Lanz led all players with six caused turnovers on the night.
Between the posts,
Adrienne Salzwedel recorded five saves in the victory.
The Boxers return to the field at Hanson Stadium on Sunday for a noon first draw against the visiting Whitman Blues, in what will be Pacific's NWC opener.
