Seven different Boxers score in loss to Blues

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Seven different Boxers scored, including two first-time goal scorers, as the Boxers fell 11-10 to the visiting Whitman Blues at Hanson Stadium on Sunday.

In a back-and-forth battle, that saw neither team lead by more than three goals on the day, Pacific opened the scoring two minutes into the game when April Lanz (Oregon City, Ore.) assisted on a goal scored by Paisley Hiefield (Portland, Ore.).

Lanz found herself in the scoring column less than two minutes later when she converted a free position shot to give Pacific a 2-0 lead. Whitman answered with two goals to tie the action at 2-2, but Lucy Almao (Orange County, Calif.) regained Pacific's lead with her first collegiate goal at 12:34.

Whitman took its first lead of the game with back-to-back goals to go up 4-3 at the 11:13 mark of the first half. Lanz added her second goal off an assist from Jordyn Godfrey, before Whitman took a three goal lead thanks to back-to-back goals from Lindsay Schwartz.

Brittney Bardin (Albany, Ore.) tallied with 4:26 left in the first period and again at 27:16 in the second half, with the second goal coming with an assist from Godfrey. Lanz tied the game at 7-7 with a free position goal, roughly five minutes before Kenedie Hemrich (Murrieta, Calif.) tallied her first collegiate score to give the Boxers an 8-7 lead with 15:41 remaining in regulation.

Whitman netted three straight goals, but Meg Chapman (Woodinville, Wash.) and Roya Tahmassebi (Mountain View, Calif.) both scored for Pacific to pull the Boxers into a 10-10 tie with the Blues. The Blues continued to push forward to the offensive third and with 1:34 left in regulation, Schwartz scored her sixth goal of the game and earned Whitman the 11-10 victory over the Boxers.

Lanz finished the afternoon with a hat trick, while Godfrey finished with a pair of assists. In possession, Chapman finished with seven ground balls and Jasmyn Adame (Martinez, Calif.) led Pacific with two draw controls.

The defensive end saw Chapman record 10 caused turnovers, while goalkeeper Adrienne Salzwedel (Beaverton, Ore.) finished the game with 13 saves.

Pacific returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. first draw scheduled against Colorado College, to be played at Linfield.
