FOREST GROVE — Trisha Snydar was one of three Boxers to deliver a multi-hit performance on the day, as the Boxers fell in both ends of a doubleheader at Sherman/Larkins Stadium to the visiting Whitworth Pirates.
Whitworth took game one in six innings by a score of 15-1, before edging the Boxers 6-4 in game two.
The Boxers head to Eugene on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Northwest Christian, set to begin at noon.
GAME ONE: Whitworth 15, Pacific 1 (6 innings)
Haley Kodama (Pearl City, Hawaii) tripled in a run in the Boxers' game one loss to the Pirates.
The Pirates plated four runs in the second inning and added two in the top of the third to take a 5-0 advantage over the home side.
Pacific got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth when
Emily Peters (Forest Grove, Ore.) singled up the middle on a full count. Following a fly out, Kodama fought through an eight pitch at-bat and tripled to right center to plate Peters.
Whitworth added nine runs in the sixth to close out the Boxers 15-1.
GAME TWO: Whitworth 6, Pacific 4
Snydar (Lynden, Wash.) was a perfect 3-for-3 in game two, while
Cindy Chan (Torrance, Calif.) and
Morgan Bookout (Oregon City, Ore.) both picked up two hits in the nightcap.
Whitworth struck for three runs in the first inning, but Pacific answered with one in the bottom of the second after Bookout singled to right to lead off the frame.
Lola Kolehmainen (Fresno, Calif.) pinch ran for Bookout and scampered to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Taylor Nishimura (Hilo, Hawaii). Kolehmainen scored one batter later when Snydar doubled to left field.
The bottom of the fourth saw Pacific tie the game at 3-3 after Bookout singled and advanced to second when Nishimura was hit by a pitch. A wild pitch advanced both runners into scoring position, where Bookout would score on a single by Snydar. Nishimura tallied the tying run when
Kiara McGinnis (Chicago Park, Calif.) reached on a fielders choice.
The Pirates regained the lead with two runs in the fifth, while Pacific scored its fourth run in the sixth when Snydar singled and advanced to second on a throwing error. With one out in the inning, Snydar stole third and then scored on a Chan single down the left field line.
Whitworth added a sixth and final run in the top of the seventh.
