The Boxers'
Chantelle Baclay (Lahaina, Hawaii) and
Danielle du Plooy (Cape Town, South Africa) each extended their winning streaks to three in singles in a 6-3 loss to George Fox on Saturday in Newberg.
Baclay was a winner in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 at the No. 3 flight and du Plooy
(pictured) also won in three sets with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. The third win on the day for Pacific came from
Sophia Nishimura (Honolulu, Hawaii), who also won in three sets, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 at the No. 4 flight. The Boxers were swept in doubles by the host Bruins despite a tough 9-7 loss at No. 2 by
Kaitlyn Lomartire (Portland, Ore.) and
Johanna Wilson (The Dalles, Ore.).
The Boxers fall to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the Northwest Conference; whereas George Fox improves to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the Northwest Conference.
Next, the Boxers will host Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, Apr. 2 at the Holce Tennis Courts at 10 a.m.
