FOREST GROVE, Ore. —
Trisha Snydar drove in a game winning run in game one, while
Haley Kodama blasted a solo home run in game two of the Boxers' doubleheader split with Willamette on Friday at Sherman/Larkins Stadium.
Pacific won game one 3-0 before falling 4-1 in game two.
The Boxers and Bearcats will meet again at Willamette on Saturday for a doubleheader set for noon in Salem.
GAME ONE: Pacific 3, Willamette 0
Snydar (Lynden, Wash.) finished 2-3 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in in Pacific's game one victory over the Bearcats.
After 3.5 scoreless innings, the Boxers opened the bottom of the fourth with a bunt single by Kodama (Pearl City, Hawaii) that was followed by a fielders choice, which allowed
Katelyn Macaitis-Smith (Salem, Ore.) to reach safely as Kodama was thrown out at second. On the very next pitch of the inning, Snydar ripped a double down the left field line to score Macaitis-Smith.
The bottom of the sixth saw Pacific add a couple more runs with Macaitis-Smith legging out an infield single with two outs. Snydar singled to right before
Morgan Bookout (Oregon City, Ore.) doubled to left and scored Macaitis-Smith.
A ground ball by
Amanda Machado (Folsom, Calif.) allowed Snydar to score before the Bearcats managed to tag out Bookout on the bases.
Ashley Martin (Sutherlin, Ore.) earned the complete game shutout victory for the Boxers.
GAME TWO: Willamette 4, Pacific 1
Kodama blasted a home run to left center to score Pacific's lone run in game two of Friday' doubleheader.
Willamette plated the first run of the game in the third before Kodama homered on the second pitch of the Boxers' half of the fourth inning.
Willamette added three runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the 4-1 win.
Four Boxers finished with a hit each, while
Cassie Apple (Modesto, Calif.) struckout six in the circle for Pacific.
