NEWBERG, Ore. — Meg Chapman scored four goals, but the Boxers dropped a 12-8 decision at George Fox on Saturday.
The Bruins rattled off three goals in the opening seven minutes, with Chapman (Woodinville, Wash.) breaking up the scoring streak with a goal off a free position shot at 23:07.
Chapman's tally was the only Boxer goal in the opening half as the Bruins took an 8-1 lead into halftime.
April Lanz (Oregon City, Ore.) opened the second half with back-to-back goals to pull Pacific within five of its hosts, but George Fox responded with a goal of its own to take a 9-3 lead with 18 minutes remaining in regulation.
Chapman struck for her second goal at 16:11, followed by the Bruins' 10th goal of the evening. Lanz assisted on a
Jordyn Godfrey (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) goal as the two sides continued to trade goals.
Godfrey's goal was answered by George Fox, which was soon followed by another Chapman goal to move the score line to 11-6 in the Bruins' favor.
George Fox scored for the final tme at the 3:50 mark, which was soon followed up by a
Paisley Hiefield (Portland, Ore.) goal off a Chapman assist.
Pacific's final goal came at the 52-second mark when
Lucy Almao (Orange County, Calif.) assisted on Chapman's fourth goal of the evening.
In addition to four goals and an assist, Chapman led Pacific with four draw controls and tied for the team lead with three ground balls. Lanz led Pacific with three caused turnovers.
In goal,
Adrienne Salzwedel (Beaverton, Ore.) recorded 15 saves in the loss.
Pacific will wrap the 2017 season next weekend with a Saturday game against Puget Sound and a Sunday tilt with Linfield, both games are scheduled for noon first draws.
