Boxers End Season with 9-0 Loss to Nationally-Ranked Linfield

The Pacific University women's tennis team saw its season end in a 9-0 loss to Linfield, who is ranked among the top teams in the nation.

The Wildcats, who entered the match are No. 29 in the latest ITA/Oracle national rankings and No. 5 in the West Region, improved to 15-3 overall and 11-1 in the Northwest Conference.

The Boxers, who entered the match at No. 18 in the West Region, end the season with a 6-9 overall mark and 4-8 in the Northwest Conference.
 
Pacific battled Linfield in all three of the doubles matches despite the three losses. The Wildcats won at No. 1 (8-3), No. 2 (8-1) and No. 3 (8-2).
 
The two teams continued to battle against one another in singles with Linfield winning all six. The No. 2 flight came down to a third-set tiebreaker where Danielle du Plooy (Cape Town, South Africa) was edged 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-3).
 
The match ended the season for the Boxers and the win clinches the Northwest Conference regular-season championship for the Wildcats.
