WALLA WALLA, Wash. —
April Lanz led Pacific with four goals as the Boxers fell 14-9 at Whitman on Saturday afternoon.
Pacific got the scoring started with back-to-back goals by
Ariel Watanabe (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Lanz (Oregon City, Ore.). Watanabe's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
Lindsay Schwartz answered for the Blues with two-straight goals before Lanz tallied her third goal. Schrwatz followed with two-more goals to put the Blues up 4-3 inside the 15-minute mark of the first half.
Lucy Almao (Orange County, Calif.) tied the game at 4-4 with a free position goal, as the two sides quickly traded goals with Whitman's fifth followed up by another Lanz goal to knot the game 5-5.
Whitman netted two additional goals before Lanz scored her fourth of the half, sending the two teams to halftime with the Blues up 7-6.
Whitman outscored Pacific 7-3 in the second half, with Pacific seeing goals by
Roya Tahmassebi (Mountain View, Calif.),
Paisley Hiefield (Portland, Ore.) and
Meg Chapman (Woodinville, Wash.).
Lanz and Hiefield finished with four ground balls each, while Lanz secured six draw controls.
In goal,
Adrienne Salzwedel (Beaverton, Ore.) finished with 15 saves.
The Boxers will return to Oregon on April 15 for a 5 p.m. first draw at George Fox.
