For the second-straight day, the Pacific University women's tennis team lost to one of the nation's top teams. On Sunday, the Boxers dropped a 6-3 decision to George Fox, who is ranked No. 14 in the latest ITA West Regional rankings.
The Boxers started the day with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles by
Kaitlyn Lomartire (Portland, Ore.) and Danielle duPlooy (Cape Town, South Africa), who defeated Sarah Tuemmler/Andrea Motley. It was the first win on the season by the Boxers' tandem.
The other two wins for Pacific came at No. 2 (
Danielle du Plooy) and at No. 3 (
Chantelle Baclay) singles. Both were straight-set winners as du Plooy defeated Ellen Pearson, 6-1, 6-1 and Baclay was a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Catrina Kwong.
The next match for Pacific will be on Saturday, April 14 against Whitworth at the Holce Tennis Courts. It will mark the final home match for senior
Kaitlyn Lomartire.
