PORTLAND, Ore. — Emily Thompson scored her second goal of the season, while a pair of Boxers got their first assists in a 2-1 loss to Warner Pacific at Damazo Field.
Warner Pacific (2-3-0) opened the scoring in the eighth minute, before adding to its goal total in the 11th minute when Mackenzie Ancien tallied from 15 yards.
Pacific (0-3-1) looked to battle back in the 17th minute when a turnover led to a one-two combo between freshman
Bella Jackson (Seattle, Wash.) and sophomore
Sadie Schmeling (Post Falls, Idaho). The final pass from Schmeling found the feet of Thompson (Orange County, Calif.) and from six yards out the junior slotted in her second goal of the season.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... Pacific went on the attack in the second half, forcing Warner Pacific's goalkeeper to make six second half saves, but the 80th minute saw the woodwork create heart break as Thompson's possible tying goal careened off the crossbar.
