Boxers drop conference opener 1-0 to Bruins

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The Pacific women's soccer team dropped its Northwest Conference season opener on Wednesday evening at Ledbetter Field, 1-0 to the visiting George Fox Bruins.

The Bruins (3-1-0, 1-0-0 NWC) executed on a quick-touch pass from Abby Anderson, which set Jayli Myamoto off to score from 12 yards out.

Pacific (0-4-1, 0-1-0 NWC) took four shots on the evening, including an early shot from junior Emily Thompson (Orange County, Calif.) that grazed the crossbar and a second half header from freshman Ammel Sawan (Beaverton, Ore.) that was saved by the George Fox goalkeeper.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... Myamoto received a lead pass from Anderson and slotted a shot by Pacific's freshman goalkeeper Saya Brown (Bothell, Wash.).
