Boxers drop 4-0 decision to Blues

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — A day after a big road victory over Whitworth, the Pacific men's soccer team fell 4-0 at the Whitman Athletic Fields to the host Whitman Blues.

Whitman (2-5-0, 1-1-0 NWC) opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Luca Barsher scored his first goal of the year. The Blues added a second first half goal when Jimmy Jacobson scored in the 42nd minute, to give the Blues a 2-0 lead over the Boxers (4-2-0, 1-1-0 NWC) at halftime.

The Blues tallied second half goals in the second half as Erik Nielsen scored in the 52nd minute and Austin Betschart notched a 68th minute goal.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... Despite the eventual game winner being scored in the 36th minute, the Blues goal in the 68th minute clinched the victory as Pacific would only record one shot on goal following the fourth Whitman goal.

STAT OF THE GAME... Sophomore Jack Orum (Eden, Utah) recorded five saves in his collegiate debut for the Boxers.

NEXT UP... The Boxers return to Ledbetter Field at Hanson Stadium on Friday evening, when Pacific hosts Willamette at 7 p.m.
