FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The Pacific men's soccer team dropped a second Northwest Conference match in the early part of the season, falling 3-0 at Ledbetter Field at Hanson Stadium to the visiting Willamette Bearcats.
Willamette (4-3-0, 3-0-0 NWC) opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Liam Main scored a tap-in at the near post off a pass from Alan Hernandez.
The Bearcats added to the lead over the Boxers (4-3-0, 1-2-0 NWC) when Mack van der Velde scored off a rebound in the 73rd minute. The 82nd minute saw the final goal of the match, when Hernandez ran onto a thru-ball and dribbled 20-plus yards and scored after beating the Boxers keeper.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... van der Velde tallied as a long throw-in bounced around inside the 18-yard box and following a deflection of a Boxers player, van der Velde slotted in his second goal of the season off the half volley.

Weli Alamillo (Aiea, Hawaii) and junior
Keilian MacCulloch (Glengarry, Ontario, Canada) were the only Pacific field players to play the full 90 minutes of the match.
NEXT UP... The Boxers head to McMinnville, Ore. on Sunday for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff against the Linfield Wildcats.
