Mizo tallies in Boxers' 3-1 loss to Coyotes

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Senior Kayla Mizo scored the first goal of her Pacific career in the ninth minute, but three goals in the second period earned College of Idaho a 3-1 win over the Boxers at Ledbetter Field at Hanson Stadium.

Mizo (Kailua, Hawaii) netted her first goal in a Boxers' uniform after joining Pacific (0-2-1) last season following two seasons at Idaho State.

A lofted cross from junior Emily Thompson (Orange County, Calif.) gave Mizo an opportunity to slot home her goal in the ninth minute.

College of Idaho used late game speed to push forward and tally three second period goals. The Coyotes' first came as Sabrina Mallett headed in a goal off a corner in the 52nd minute, while Cameron Coyle and Katelyn Benavidez scored in the 82nd and 84th minutes, respectively.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... Cameron Coyle chipped in a goal over Pacific's freshman goalkeeper, Saya Brown (Bothell, Wash.) from 25 yards out.

STAT OF THE GAME... It has been over 690 days since Mizo scored her last collegiate goal. Mizo last scored on October 25, 2015, when she scored for Idaho State in a 4-2 loss to Southern Utah.
