Pacific Loses to Willamette, 83-67

Three Boxers scored in double figures for the Pacific men's basketball team, who dropped an 83-67 decision to host Willamette on Saturday in Salem.

Pacific (8-7, 2-4 NWC) was led by an 18-point effort from Nate Olowo, who was joined in double figures by Davis Holly and Chris Evans, who scored 14 and 10 points, respectively. In his first start, Nick Edens had nine points, making 6 of 6 free throws.

Willamette (8-7, 3-3 NWC) was led by Nico Troplent, who had a game-high 24 to pace three Bearcats in double figures. He was joined by Jordan Jenkins and Brendon McCullough, who scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The Boxers built a lead as large as five in the first half. With the Boxers holding a 27-24 lead, with 7:37 left in the opening 20 minutes, the Bearcats ended the first half on a 20-4 run. Troplent scored 10 of his 20 to lead a Willamette squad, who shot 51.4% (18-for-35) in the first 20 minutes.

Four-straight points by Evans got the Boxers within nine in the opening minutes of second half to cut the deficit to 44-35. Willamette answered the spurt, stretching the lead back to double figures when Troplent hit a 3-pointer to put the lead at double figures for the remainder of the game.

Next, Pacific will host George Fox on Friday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Stoller Center.
