School Record 9 3-Pointers by Brevin Brown Leads Pacific to Win Over George Fox

In his first start of the season, junior Brevin Brown (Everett, Wash) would lead the Pacific University men's basketball team with a school record nine 3-pointers en route to 33 points as the Pacific men's basketball team posted a 105-92 win over George Fox on Friday night.

With all five starters in double figures– Pacific (9-7, 3-4 NWC) snapped a seven-game losing streak. Senior Nate Olowo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif) had his sixth double-double of the season notching 18 points and 12 rebounds. Also for Olowo, it is eighth-straight game in double figures. Senior, R.J Collins (Hollister, Calif) had 17 points - 14 in the first half in which he made five 3-pointers. Sophomore Davis Holly (Bend, Ore.) nearly had a triple double with 17 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds, plus senior Chris Evans (Seaside, Calif.) had his first career double double with 11 points, 10 rebounds
Holly, unware of his stat line, loved the win and believed "this one felt the best," regarding Pacific's ninth win of the season.
"I didn't even know I was that close, it is nice, but it feels great to get the win too because it has been a while since we got one." Holly said.
George Fox (5-11, 1-6 NWC) had three players in double figures led by junior Mason Green-Richards with 26 points. Senior Thomas Rico finished with 23 points and sophomore Ryan Lacey added 22. The Bruins shot an impressive 52.2% from the field.
During the first half, the Boxers would go on a 10-0 run after a tightly contested game to start the contest, which gave Pacific a 22-13 lead. George Fox answered with their own 10-0 run, finishing the half 5-7 from the field to draw within four.
The two teams exchanged 3-pointers to start the second half until later in the second half, George Fox would go on a 13-0 run en route to an 84-81 lead.  Nine-straight points by Pacific including a pair of free throws by Olowo and Holly would put Pacific back in front, 90-84. Brown would later hit his ninth 3-pointer of the game and a put-back dunk by Olowo ended the comeback hopes for the Bruins.
Pacific scored a season-high 105 points and it is the second time that the Boxers have eclipsed the century mark in 2017-18. The team would also finish with a shooting percentage of 53.7% from the field and a blistering 59.3% from beyond the arc with a season-high 16 3-pointers. The last time that Pacific made 16 3-pointers in a game was also against the Bruins in Newberg on Jan. 20, 2015.
Up next for the Boxers is a trip to Tacoma to face Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m.
