Boxers Lead from Start to Finish in 71-54 Win Over PLU

The Pacific men's basketball team led from start to finish in a 71-54 win over Pacific Lutheran on Saturday in Tacoma.

The Boxers (10-7, 4-4 NWC) went ahead on a R.J. Collins 3-pointer to start the game and led by as much as 22 in the 17-point victory over the host Lutes. Pacific picks up its fifth road win of the season and junior Brevin Brown had his sixth game with at least 20 points, scoring a game-high 23 points.

Brown was joined in double figures by Chris Evans and Davis Holly, who had 13 and 12 points, respectively. Brown had four steals and six rebounds in the win; plus the Boxers grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and forced 15 turnovers which they turned into 14 points.

Nate Olowo came up a point shy of a double double with nine points and 10 rebounds for the Boxers. The nine points snaps his stretch of eight-consecutive games in double figures.

The Lutes (4-12, 1-7 NWC) led by a 17-point effort from reserve Sean McLaughlin. The Lutes, who were held to 38.2% shooting from the field, got 13 points from Leighton Kingma.

Twice in the first half, Pacific pushed the lead to double digits and managed to put the lead at double digits for the rest of the contest with a 12-4 run midway through the second half.  The Boxers sealed the win, making 11 of 13 free throws en route to an 85.7% (12-for-14) effort for the game. It is the fifth time on the season that Pacific has shot 85% or better from the line in a game.

Next for Pacific is a contest on Tuesday at home against Lewis & Clark at the Stoller Center at 8 p.m. Earlier this year, the Boxers defeated the Pioneers, 96-77 in Portland on December 4.
