Three Boxers had double-digit kills, four had double-digit digs and five service aces all contributed to a 25-23, 16-25, 27-25, 25-18 win by Pacific volleyball over #14 Pacific Lutheran on Friday night in Forest Grove. It is the first Boxer win at home against the Lutes since an October 11, 2003 win.

Pacific (13-6, 7-3 NWC) got double double performances from seniors
Ellie Parker and
Morgan Mendicino as well as junior
Karlee Duncan in the win. Parker had 47 assists and 10 digs to go along with three blocks, Mendicino had 12 digs and 11 kills and Duncan added 16 kills and 11 digs.

Pacific Lutheran (14-3, 7-2 NWC) managed to out hit the Boxers by a .208 to .200 margin in the loss. Mackenzie Harris and Danielle Skibel had 16 and 11 kils, respectively. The Lutes were strong at the net with 17 team blocks as Skibel had a hand on eight and Harris posted seven.

A tightly contested opening set saw six lead changes and the scored tied on seven occasions. Three Boxers had four kills including Mendicno, Duncan and Ivkovic. Twice, in the set, Pacific came back from four-point deficits. With the set tied at 19, Pacific scored four-straight points to take a 23-19 to prompt a PLU time out. The Lutes answered with a Skibel kill; then Pacific veteran head coach
Kip Yoshimura chose to call a time out. The Boxers regained the momentum on a Duncan kill to set up a set point. After back-to-back sideouts, Pacific ended the set when Mendicino delivered a kill to put the host Boxers ahead a set.

The second set saw the Lutes hit a blistering .333 clip with 16 kills on just two errors to even the set with a 25-16 victory.

The third set, much like the opening set and the remainder of the match, went back and forth between the two teams. The set was tied on nine occasions and saw six lead changes. Ivkovic led the Boxers with six kills and two service aces. Pacific found itself behind as much as six on a pair of occasions until the service game of Ivkovic and the offensive attack got on track, tying the set at 18. Each team had a chance at set point until the Boxers capitalized on an attack error and a bad set by the Lutes to take the third set by a 27-25 margin.

Amped with momentum on its side in the fourth set, the Boxers jumped out to an early 5-2 lead. Later in the set, the Lutes managed to cut the Pacific lead to one 13-12 before six-straight points by the Boxers prompted a PLU timeout. The Boxers would lead by as much as 10 in the set and senior
Bailey Servoss hammered down a kill and Duncan added six more kills to secure the victory. The set was indicative of the all-around effort it took for Pacific in the win. With the six kills by Duncan, three more from Servoss and Ivkovic, the Boxer frontline rose to the occasion with five blocks,
Haley Walz and Mendicino each had four digs; plus Parker had 15 of her 47 assists.

Next, the Boxers will have its final non-conference match of the season on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host New Hope Christian.
