PLU Scores Goal Late to Defeat Boxers 1-0

In a tightly contested match a 74th minute goal by Pacific Lutheran would hold on to be the difference in a 1-0 loss for the Pacific men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.

The Boxers (1-8-3, 0-6-2 NWC) would out-shoot the Lutes (10-4, 6-2 NWC) 4-3 in the first half, narrowly missing their chances at a goal.

James Curro would be the first to attack the goal, having a shot in the 10th minute be blocked by the Lute defense. Robert Nurmi would have a close attempt, missing the post by inches in the 28th minute. Woodey Greer would have the final attempt of the half, heading a crossed ball just wide of the net in the 40th minute.

Early in the second half, Greer would then come right out of the half and have his shot saved by the Pacific Lutheran keeper in the 46th minute.

Brock Jones would have two saves in a five minute span, 54th and 59th minutes, in the second half before the Lutes were able to sneak one by the Boxer keeper 15 minutes later.

Seeking an equalizer, the Boxers' best scoring chance would come when Braden Kojima unleashed a rocket off of a failed Lute clearance from 30 yards out. It would be handled by the Lutes' keeper and would be the Boxers' final shot attempt.

The Boxers are back in action on Sunday in a home match against the Puget Sound Loggers.
