All-Around Effort Leads Pacific Past Lewis & Clark

Three Boxers with double double performances and 12 service aces sparked the Pacific volleyball team to a 19-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-21 win over Lewis & Clark on Friday night in Forest Grove.

The Boxers (11-5, 5-2 NWC) extend its winning streak to three with the four-set win. Seniors Ellie Parker (45 assists, 10 digs) and Morgan Mendicino (11 kills, 15 digs) as well as junior Karlee Duncan (12 kills, 13 digs) led Pacific in the win. Mendicino added five service aces and freshman Haley Walz added three more aces to go along with 25 digs and five assists in the win.
 
The Pioneers (9-5, 2-5 NWC) were led by a double double performance by Kortney Meyer, who had 13 kills and 17 digs in the loss.

Lewis & Clark started the match with 15 kills and a .111 hitting percentage to take the opening set. It was just the fifth time on the season that the Boxers had dropped the opening set. Meyer had six of her 13 kills to lead the visitors.
 
The Boxers bounced back with a 25-15 win in the second set as four-different Boxers had three kills including Mendicino, who also had three service aces. Walz had seven digs and the Boxers had a pair of block to even the match at a set apiece. Pacific hit .268 compared to .118 for the Pioneers. Sophomore Jordan Zweifel and Duncan each had five kills and Walz added three service aces to lead Pacific in a third set victory by a 25-23 margin.
 
The fourth set went back and forth between two hot-hitting teams. A 10-2 run midway through the set put Pacific ahead for the remainder of the set. A balanced attack led the turnaround for the Boxers, who went ahead 16-12 on a Duncan kill. Ivkovic had five kills, plus Mendicino and Zweifel each had four kills for Pacific, who hit .350 in the set. A service ace by senior Genna Henderson closed out the match for Pacific.
 
Next, Pacific will take on Northwest Conference leader, Puget Sound on Saturday in Tacoma at 5 p.m.
