Pacific University women's basketball sophomore
Courtney Carolan had her first career double double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the Boxers defeated Evergreen State, 70-62 on Saturday afternoon in Forest Grove.
The Boxers (2-2) landed three players in double figures including senior
Liana Tanaka and junior
Ashley Jones to complement the efforts by Carolan. Tanaka shared in game-high honors with 23 points including a perfect 7-for-7 effort from the free-throw line. Jones added 15 in a reserve role, including four 3-pointers.

The Geoducks (0-3) were led by Alexcis Higginbotham, who had 23 points including five 3-pointers. She was joined in double digits by Amber Jones and Deidra Miller, who each had 12 points in the loss.
Carolan scored four-straight points to put Pacific ahead 31-29 with 2:49 left in the opening half. The Boxers closed out first 20 minutes, scoring nine of the final 13 points for a 38-33 halftime lead. It was the third time in four games that Pacific had led at the intermission.

The Geoducks came out of the halftime break and scored 11 of the first 17 tying the game at 44 and for the first time since the 3:46 mark of the second quarter.

Pacific regained the lead when senior Charli Elliot knocked down a jumper, followed by a 3-point play by Tanaka put the Boxers ahead 49-44 with 4:28 to go in the third quarter. Later in the quarter, Evergreen State tied the game for the seventh and final time when Miller made a pair of free throws, tying the contest at 51.

On the Boxers' next possession, Carolan drained a 3-pointer – her second of the contest - that put Pacific ahead for the remainder of the contest. Pacific closed out the contest, scoring 10 of the final 14 points for the victory. Six of the 10 came on a pair of 3-pointers by Jones.

Next, Pacific will begin the rigors of the Northwest Conference play as they travel to Whitman on Friday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. in Walla Walla, Washington.
