A 3-pointer by
Ethan Moss put Pacific ahead 91-88 with 4:04 to play sparked eight unanswered points, who led for the rest of the game in a 98-93 win over host Redlands on Monday afternoon.
Pacific was led by a 29-point effort from senior
Brevin Brown, who hit seven 3-pointers to set a new single-season high for the Boxers. Brown was joined in double figures by
Marcus Wallace, who added 16 and
Terrence Gilder, who chipped in 10.
The Bulldogs, who fall to 6-3, had four players in double figures including 23 points from reserve Kameron Wright. He was accompanied in double digits by Parker Landolf (19 points), Joey Sponheim (18 points) and Gary Menary (13 points). Redlands shot at a 54.4% clip in the loss.
Moss was one of nine Boxers, who hit 3-pointers in the win as Pacific raised its record to the .500 mark at 4-4.
Head Coach
Justin Lunt was proud of the effort of his team. "We stayed together, trusted the process and kept battling," said the first year head coach. The Boxers found themselves behind as much as 15 in the first half but the constant pressure by the Pacific defense forced 34 turnovers in the contest. The 34 turnovers turned into 38 points for the Boxers in the win.
Facing a nine-point deficit, 44-36 with 2:40 left in the opening half, Pacific wrapped up the first 20 minutes with nine of the final 11 points to head into the intermission down one, 46-45. The nine points came on three 3-pointers by the Boxers'
Brevin Brown,
Jared Cattell, and
Andy Isokpehi.
The Boxers took their first lead since Gilder hit a 3-pointer just 27 seconds into the contest when
Davis Holly knocked down a 3-pointer with 18:41 left to go in the game. The game would be tied on 11 more occasions in the second 20 minutes until the decisive 3-pointer by Moss for what proved to be his only points of the contest.
Next, Pacific will play its second game of its three-game California trip as they take on Occidental on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Los Angeles.
