Pacific Lutheran rallied to snag the series finale in 11 innings against the Pacific University baseball team by an 11-10 margin.
With the game tied at 10, the Lutes took advantage of a Pacific error to plate the winning run. Earlier in the inning, with one out, PLU put runners on base on a single and a walk. Then, with two out, Marques Carlson hit a ball to score Anthony Gosline for what proved to be the winning run.
Pacific mounted a threat in its half of the inning with a one out walk before a walk and fielder's choice ended the opportunity.
Four Boxers (8-12, 4-8 NWC) recorded multiple hits in the contest, including junior
Derek Ridgway (Elko, Nev.), who also had four RBI. Plus, senior
Von Ferguson (Everett, Wash.) tallied a pair of hits and three RBI, and senior
Dylan Wright (Gilbert, Ariz.) and freshmen
Derek Legeza (Peoria, Ariz.) each recorded two hits and scored twice. Pacific used six pitchers in the loss including
Matt Jensen, who pitched the final two innings in a loss to fall to 0-1.
The visiting Lutes (9-8, 7-2 NWC) scored four times in the ninth to send the game into extra innings. Offensively, Connor Cantu led the Lutes at the plate with three hits and three runs scored. Jacob Bockelie and Cole Johnson each recorded two hits and three RBI for the Lutes in the game. Alex Gregory pitched 1.2 innings of one hit, one run (earned) for the win to improve to 3-0 for the Lutes. Josh Takagi closed out the game to pick up his first save of the season.

th. The Boxers tied the game at 10 on a two out RBI single by Ridgway (Elko, Nev.).
Pacific tied the game at 3 in the bottom of the third and went ahead for the first time on the day with a three-run fourth inning – two of the runs came in on a two-RBI single by Ferguson. A RBI single by Ridgway in the sixth stretched the lead to 8-4. The Lutes started its come back plating a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Johnson. Then, PLU sent the game into extra innings as 10 batters came to the plate and scored four runs. Two of the runs came in on a two-run home run by Bockelie.
Pacific takes to the road next weekend as they travel to Tacoma, Wash. to face off against Puget Sound for a three-game series. The series will get underway with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
