Box Score The Pacific University women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to College of Idaho at the Holce Tennis Courts on Sunday morning.
The Boxers (2-6) started the day with an 8-2 win by
Marissa Hayashi and
Chantelle Baclay at No. 1 doubles. The other two doubles matches were tightly contested but in favor of the visiting Yotes.
As the match moved to singles, College of Idaho extended its lead to 3-1 with a win at No. 5 singles before Baclay picked up her second win on the day with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.
Next, College of Idaho moved closer to victory with a win at No. 3 singles until the Boxers picked up back-to-back wins at No. 6 by
Callie Oyama and at No. 2 by
Sophia Nishimura tied the match at 4.
The match was going to be decided at the No. 4 flight between the 'Yotes Natalie Little and Boxers'
Marissa Hayashi. Little broke the serve of Hayashi in the opening set on a pair of occasions en route to a 6-4 first set victory. She took the momentum into the second set, winning by a 6-0 margin to lead the visitors to the 5-4 victory.
