The Pacific men's tennis team posted its fourth 9-0 win of the season with its victory over Willamette on Sunday at the Holce Tennis Courts.
With the win, Pacific raises its record to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats fall to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in the Northwest Conference.
Among the three winners in doubles were the team of
Jonathan Chung and
Sage Katayama at No. 2 doubles, who improved to a team-best 8-1 on the season. Chung and Katayama were 8-4 winners over Gene Perle-Jones and Owen Burcham. The eight doubles wins are the most on the Pacific team.
As the match moved to singles, the Boxers shuffled up its lineup that saw
Riley Boyden at No. 2,
Griffin Fraser at No. 3,
Joey Balleweg at No. 4,
Garret Katayama at No. 5 and
Felix Zinke at No. 6. Boyden and
Garret Katayama picked up their second wins of the season at the No. 2 and No. 5 flight, respectively. For Fraser, Balleweg, and Zinke, it was their first wins of the season at their new spots in the lineup. For Zinke, who is an exchange student from Germany, it was his first collegiate competition. He made the most of his opportunity with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Next, Pacific will face Lewis & Clark on Saturday, Apr. 14 and close out the home season with a matchup against George Fox on Sunday, Apr. 15 at 10 a.m. for Senior Day.
