Boxer Seniors Lead Pacific Women's Soccer to 1-0 Win Over Lewis & Clark

Pacific University senior Emily Thompson (pictured to the right) scored the golden goal in the 48th minute to lead the Boxers to a 1-0 win over Lewis & Clark on Sunday afternoon.

The Boxers, who improve to 1-5 and 1-1 in the Northwest Conference, had a pair of scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes before an alert Thompson picked up the rebound off an attempt by senior Adina Goodwin. Both Thompson and Goodwin each had three shots for Pacific.

The Pioneers, who fall to 2-3-1 and 0-2 in the Northwest Conference, recorded a 9-8 advantage on shots in the loss.

Lewis & Clark nearly had an equalizer in the 56th minute before Boxer defender Mikayla Tucker (pictured to the left) interrupted a 1 on 1 opportunity by Courtney Schmidt. Tucker emerged in the back line of the defense, marking the Pioneers forward and taking her shot attempt away from the empty net.

Boxers' goalkeeper Kali Barber added four saves for her first career shutout.

Next, Pacific will travel to face Whitman on Saturday, Sept. 22 at noon and Whitworth on Sunday, Sept. 23 at noon to continue the rigors of the Northwest Conference.
