Lura Morton found herself in the right spot at the right time as the University of Puget Sound outlasted the Pacific University women's soccer team in a 2-1 double overtime match on Friday night in Forest Grove.
Morton and Puget Sound, who improve to 4-4-1, 3-1-1 in the Northwest Conference, capitalized in the 108
th minute when Tayla McPherson fed the ball to an alert for a tap in and game-winning goal. To set up the game-winning goal, the Boxer defense had come out to collapse on the Loggers' offense as it had done throughout the match in the closing minutes of the second overtime.
The Boxers, who fall to 1-8, 1-4 in the Northwest Conference, played one of its strongest defensive efforts on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper

After a scoreless first 45 minutes that saw each team have opportunities for the early lead, Puget Sound went ahead 1-0 in the 52
nd minute as Gabbie Berg scored for the Loggers. The Boxers remained strong on its defensive side of the pitch, managing to equalize in the 61
st minute on an own goal when an inadvertent pass by the Loggers defense found itself in the back of the net.
The two teams continued to battle for the game-deciding goal before it was decided in the second overtime period by the game-winning effort by Morton.
