Two goals in the final 10 minutes led host Pacific Lutheran to a 2-1 win over the Pacific men's soccer team on Sunday afternoon.
The Boxers (1-6-3, 0-4-2 NWC) held a 1-0 lead after
Robert Nurmi converted a penalty kick in the 44
th minute.
The Lutes (8-4, 4-2 NWC) had been kept off the scoreboard through their first 14 shots by a stifling Pacific defense and the efforts of goalkeeper
Brock Jones.
PLU managed to equalize in the 80
th minute on a Nick Brundage goal, tying the contest at 1. Later in the half, Joe Sammartino got the game-winning goal in the 88
th minute for the final margin.
For Pacific, Jones had seven saves in the loss and four-different Boxers had a shot.
Next, Pacific will travel to George Fox on Sunday, October 6 before a rematch against the Lutes at home on Saturday, October 13 at 2:30 p.m.
