Despite a season-high 52 3-point field goal attempts by the Pacific University men's basketball team, it was a 68.8% (44-for-64) effort from the field by host George Fox that led the host Bruins to a 122-93 win on Saturday night.
The Boxers (6-7, 0-4 NWC) forced 30 turnovers in the loss and had three players in double figures including a pair of 19-point efforts from
Davis Holly and
Marcus Wallace. Pacific reserve
Gage Shelmidine came off the bench to score 16 points.
The Bruins (10-3, 4-0 NWC) handed out 34 assists on 44 field goals and had six players score in double digits in the win. The top scorer for George Fox was Ryan Quinn, who scored a game-high 24 as he went 11-for-11 from the free-throw line in the win.Â
He was joined in double figures by M. Green-Richards (18 points), Wesley Reynolds (17 points), Levi Dalzell (14 points), J.D. Ahlstrom (12 points) and Kalu Stricklin (12 points).
Midway through the first half, host George Fox went on an 11-2 run to push the lead to double digits for the remainder of the contest. The first 20 minutes saw the Bruins shoot 71% (22-for-31) from the field and just as impressive was its defensive efforts as they limited Pacific to 28.6% (12-for-42) en route to a 59-38 halftime lead.
Wallace and Holly scored 13 and 10 points in the second half as Pacific scored 55 second half points. Pacific managed to cut the deficit to 21 in the final 20 minutes.
