Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pacific Loses to Willamette, 113-98

Four players on the Pacific University men's basketball scored in double figures in a 113-98 loss to Willamette on Tuesday night in Forest Grove.

The Boxers (6-8, 0-5 NWC) were led by a 21-point effort from junior Marcus Wallace, who was joined in double figures by Andy Isokpehi (17 points), Brevin Brown (16 points) and Zak Hankins (10 points). For Wallace, it is his 12th game in double figures and eighth time over 20 points, for Isokpehi, it is a season-high effort and the second time that Hankins has been in double figures on the season.

The Bearcats (3-10, 1-4 NWC) spread the scoring across its lineup, like the Boxers, with six players in double figures including an 18-point effort from reserve Ryan Peterson. He was joined in double figures by Jordan Jenkins, who had a double double (17 points, 13 rebounds), plus, Alec Barba (16 points), Justus Eaglesmith (14 points), Trent Callan (12 points) and Jonathan Watts (12 points).

Pacific held the lead for most of the first 11 minutes of the contest until a game-deciding 18-2 run after just the third tie of the game by the visitors from Salem put the Bearcats ahead by double digits for the remainder of the game. On the decisive run, the only two points for the Boxers came at the free-throw line. To spark the run, Willamette made nine-straight shots from the field.

The Boxers scored the first points of the second half when Wallace made a jumper to cut the deficit to 10, 59-49 but the Bearcats had an answer with six-straight points to dash the comeback hopes for the home team.

In the second half, Pacific raised its shooting effort from the field as they made (17-for-40) 42.5% of its field goals but a 16.7% (3-for-18) mark from the 3-point line. The Bearcats continued to shoot at a high clip, shooting 64.3% for the game and 63.6% (21-for-33) in the final 20 minutes.

The Boxers will look to bounce back as they travel to Pacific Lutheran on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Parkland. The Lutes edged Willamette by a 70-64 margin in Parkland on Saturday.
