Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Upset-Minded Pacific Comes Up Short in 59-54 Loss to No. 10 George Fox

No. 10 George Fox did just enough to spoil an upset-minded Pacific University women's basketball team in a 59-54 win on Saturday night.

The Bruins (11-2, 4-0 NWC) were led by an 18-point effort from reserve Tavin Headings, who made four 3-pointers in the win. She was joined in double figures by a 12-point effort from Emily Spencer.

The Boxers (6-7, 0-4 NWC) were able to get a pair of 13-point scoring efforts from Courtney Carolan and Charli Elliott in the loss. Liana Tanaka joined the duo in double figures, scoring 10 points.

George Fox hit a 3-pointer on its first possession but indicative of the game, Pacific had an answer when Elliott drove in for a lay-up. The game went back and forth for the remainder of the contest. The Boxers continued to challenge the nationally-ranked Bruins, getting within one on a pair of occasions in the final minutes. But, the Bruins had an answer to the threat by the visitors from Forest Grove.

Next, the Boxers will come back home to face Willamette on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the Stoller Center.
