The Pacific University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against George Fox on Saturday.
The Boxers (1-8-3, 0-4-2 NWC) overcame an early goal in the third minute by the visiting Bruins to equalize when sophomore
Grant Rutledge (pictured) headed in a cross from
Brycen Lee in the 32
nd minute.
The Bruins (4-7-2, 1-5-1) scored in the third minute when Ohm Harpe found the back of the net for the early margin.
The two teams sought a chance to score the game-winning goal for the remainder of the match. Both teams were issued red cards towards the end of regulation forced both teams to play a man down.
Pacific goalkeeper
Jack Cuevas organized a strong defensive effort for the Boxers, making two saves. Bruins goalkeeper Cole Benton made six saves before a red card saw backup Richie Seaman, who made a save for the remainder of the match.
Pacific had a 15-8 advantage in shots and 8-3 in shots on goal. Rutledge and
Robert Nurmi each had three shots to lead the Boxers.
Next, the Boxers will travel to face Whitman on Saturday, October 19 at 2:30 p.m. The two teams just played on Sunday, Oct. 6 in Forest Grove with the Blues coming away with a 2-0 victory.
