Jordan Zweifel had 20 kills, five blocks and four digs and
Karlee Duncan had her second straight double – 12 kills and 14 digs as the Pacific University volleyball team posted a 25-22, 27-29, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13 win over host Willamette.
The Boxers (14-4, 7-1 NWC) setter
Makenna Mahuna also had a double double with 54 assists and 17 digs to go with four service aces.
The Bearcats (4-13, 1-7 NWC) had three players – Natalie Klotz (18 kills, 11 digs), Dani Queja (14 kills, 17 digs) and Emma Porter (52 assists, 13 digs) – with double double performances in the loss. Jennifer Lane added 17 kills and seven blocks in the loss.
The two teams traded the first four sets before relying on the fifth set to decide the match. The set saw the Boxers jump out to an early 6-3 lead. The Bearcats came back to tie the set on three more occasions until the tandem of
Milana Ivkovic and
Nanea Lum teamed up for back-to-back blocks that put the Boxers ahead for the remainder of the set.
The team of
Elika Unti and
Jordan Zweifel came together for another block to close out the match. Pacific out hit Willamette, .194 to .111 in the final set.
Next, Pacific will put its five-match winning streak on the line when they host George Fox on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. The Boxers swept the Bruins in three on September 20.
