Late in the second half, the Pacific University women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in a 3-2 loss to Linfield on Wednesday night.
The Boxers, who found themselves behind by a 3-0 margin, made a late push against the Wildcats. Sophomore
Brooke Nakamura went to the lower right of the goal, just past the Wildcats keeper after a corner kick from senior
Courtney Olsen in the 86
th minute. Less than two minutes later, the Boxers found the back of the net when sophomore
Lydia King (pictured) went down the left side and past an overextended Linfield goalie.
Linfield (6-6-1, 5-3-1 NWC) went ahead with a pair of first half goals as they built an early 2-0 lead on the strength of an 11-1 advantage in shots. Late in the second half, the Wildcats organized an offensive attack in the 82
nd minute that saw Baylie Cameron score after successful passes across the Pacific defense for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Linfield out shot the host Boxers by an 18-5 margin in the win. The Wildcats had other opportunities in the match as they were whistled for offsides on eight occasions. Sydney Kuehn had a team-high five shots – two of which came on goal. Madi Reimer made a pair of saves in goal for the win.
Next, Pacific will host Lewis & Clark on Sunday at noon at Ledbetter Field. Earlier this season, the Pioneers defeated the Boxers by a 2-0 margin on Sunday, Sept. 22 in Portland.
