A .176 hitting percentage and 10 blocks propelled host Puget Sound to a 25-21, 25-10, 23-25, 25-22 win over Pacific University on Friday night in Tacoma.
The Loggers (14-11, 9-4 NWC) avenged a five-set loss to the Boxers on October 4 with the win. Led by a versatile attack, Puget Sound was led by Tallie Davison (12 kills), Jordan Holman (11 kills), Katherine Carley (11 kills), who accounted for 34 of the 47 kills in the win.
The trio was complemented by the seven-block effort by Melanie Siacotos, who had two block solos and five block assists in the win. In addition, Puget Sound had 14 service aces in the win.
Pacific (16-7, 9-4 NWC) was led by junior
Jordan Zweifel, who had 11 kills and freshman
Shaianne Cambra had 27 assists and a team-high four aces in the loss. It is just the second time on the season that the Boxers have lost back-to-back matches. The Boxers were limited to a season-low .061 hitting percentage in the loss.
Next, the Boxers will face Pacific Lutheran, who they defeated in four sets on October 5 in Forest Grove.
