Junior guard
Courtney Carolan scored 26 – one shy of her career-high – to lead the Pacific women's basketball team to a 71-51 win over Warner Pacific on Saturday night.
Carolan, who hit five 3-pointers, was joined in double figures by
Madison Cabardo and
Alexis Intong, who each had 10 in the win as the Boxers improve to 2-0. The last time that the Boxers started the season with a 2-0 mark was in 2015-16.
Warner Pacific, who falls to 3-3, was led by a 15-point effort from reserve Courtney Jackson. The visiting Knights were held to 33.3% (16-for-48) shooting in the loss.
WPU went ahead by one, 14-13, when Mya Kirzy hit a 3-pointer with 1:12 left in the first quarter before Carolan sparked the host Boxers. She hit her second 3-pointer of the opening quarter to put Pacific ahead 16-14 and for the remainder of the contest.
Carolan went on to score the first five points of the second quarter to put Pacific ahead seven, 21-14 with 9:28 left in the opening half. The Pacific defense held Warner Pacific to just eight points in the second quarter The Boxers scored the final six points of the quarter, stretching the lead to 14, 36-22, at the halftime break.
Next, Pacific will host Cal Lutheran on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Stoller Center.
