Three Boxers (
Marcus Wallace – 19;
Davis Holly – 15;
Colin Rardin – 13) scored in double figures as the Pacific men's basketball team dropped a 117-95 decision to host Pomona-Pitzer on Friday night.
The Boxers (2-4) opened the game with an early 17-4 lead over the first four minutes that saw Wallace hit four 3-pointers to begin the contest.
The Sagehens (2-2) were led by a 42-point effort from Alex Preston. He was joined in double figures by Brendan Mora and Micah Elan, who each had 16 and Adam Rees added 12.
Later in the first half, Pomona-Pitzer came back with a 9-2 spurt late in the first half to tie the game at 36 with 4:47 to go in the first 20 minutes. After the two teams traded the lead on four more occasions, including when the Boxers' Nick Drynan made a jumper to tie the contest at 48.
Pomona-Pitzer regained the lead for the remainder of the contest, scoring the final five points of the half. The host Sagehens outscored the Boxers by a 66-49 margin in the final 20 minutes en route to the victory.
Next up for Pacific is a matchup against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
