The Pacific University men's tennis team swept a pair of non-conference matches, winning 9-0 over Pacific Lutheran and Bellevue Community College on Sunday at the Holce Tennis Center.
The Boxers (4-0), who are currently ranked No. 40 in the latest ITA rankings, won both matches without dropping a set.
To start the day, Pacific won all three of its doubles matches including wins by the No. 1 tandem of Rayden and
Koby Murata, the No. 2 duo of
Sean Murphy and
Jonathan Chung and the No. 3 team of
Matt Weiler and
Cooper Rich gave the host Boxers an early 3-0 lead.
The Boxers continued to dominate the match, winning all six singles matches in straight sets. Among the winners included
Sean Murphy at No. 1,
Reyn Miyagawa at No. 2,
Rayden Murata at No. 3,
Joey Hu at No. 4, Garret Katayam at No. 5 and
Joey Balleweg at No. 6. The win by Murata at No. 3 clinched the win for Pacific.
Pacific came back to win in convincing fashion over Bellevue Community College in its second match of the afternoon. All three doubles victories came by an 8-0 margin.
The Boxers dropped just 10 games in its six singles wins. Sophomore
Jonathan Chung was the lone player for Pacific to not give up a game in the win.
Next, Pacific is idle until it starts conference play on Saturday, March 9 when they host Whitworth at 11 a.m. at the Holce Tennis Center.
