Box Score The Pacific University women's tennis team opened up the spring portion of its schedule with an 8-1 win over Highline College on Saturday afternoon.
The Boxers (1-0) started the day, winning two of the three doubles matches by an identical margin of 8-5. Among the winners were the #2 doubles team of
Sophia Nishimura and
Halie Change and #3 doubles team of
Adrienne Powell and
Johanna Wilson.
Pacific swept all six singles matches including a pair of three-set wins at #1 singles by
Chantelle Baclay (3-6, 6-2, 6-1) and at #2 singles by
Sophia Nishimura (5-7, 7-6, 7-6 [10-6]). Plus, Chang won at #3 singles by a 7-5, 6-1 margin and Powell won in convincing at #4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. The Boxers clinched the victory, winning at #6 singles by
Taylor Smallwood, who won 7-6, 6-3. The final winner on the day was at #5 singles as Wilson won 6-4, 6-1.
Pacific will wrap up the weekend with a non-conference matchup against Lewis & Clark on Sunday at 11 a.m.
