Piedmont would use a two-run seventh to propel themselves past the Boxers in Tucson, Ariz. Friday morning.
After three perfect innings from
Casey Brown, Piedmont (2-0) would score first in the fourth inning after back-to-back singles to begin the frame. Brown would work out of trouble using a key double-play.
The Boxers (2-1) would answer back by hanging four runs on the Lions.
Chase Anderson,
Ryan Krout and
Dylan Morgan recorded three straight singles before Anderson scored on a wild pitch.
Aaron Alexander would then deliver a big two-out two-RBI double giving Pacific a 3-2 lead.
Jordan Hara would add an RBI triple before the inning ended giving the Boxers a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth.
Piedmont would score a run in the fifth and the sixth tying the game at 4.
In the top of the seventh
Von Ferguson would lead the inning off with a hit-by-pitch and Alexander would single. An attempted double steal saw Ferguson get caught at third, but Alexander advancing to second.
Derek Legeza would single in Alexander with two outs giving the Boxers a 5-4 lead.
In the bottom half of the seventh, Piedmont would use a double and three singles off of the Boxer bullpen to claim a 6-5 lead that would hold over the next two innings.
Boxers are back on the field tomorrow taking on nationally ranked Chapman at 10:00 a.m. and then La Verne scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
