The Pacific University women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision in a tightly-contested match against the William Smith College women's tennis team on Thursday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

The Herons (3-2) were playing their second-consecutive match against a Northwest Conference team after defeating George Fox on Wednesday, 8-1.

The Boxers (2-6) fell behind after three tightly contested doubles matches, including an 8-6 loss at #1 doubles by the team of Chantelle Baclay/Marissa Hayashi.

Four of the six singles matches were decided in third set tiebreakers. Pacific freshman Adrienne Powell was victorious in the longest tiebreaker. The Roseburg, Ore. native picked up her second-straight win with a 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (12-10) win for the lone victory by the Boxers on the day.
